By Serena Norr
All 12-year-old Evan Goldman has to do is plan ultimate Bar Mitzvah. Those plans quickly get derailed when his parents announce they’re getting a divorce and he has to move from NYC to Indiana. Thus, is the premise of the new Netflix movie, 13: The Musical. Adapted by the play (of the same name), the musical shows a different challenge with this rite of passage party when Evan has to leave everything he knows to go to a place where he knows no one — not to mention that he has parents who can’t stand each other!
The cast features Eli Golden as Evan Goldman; Rhea Perlman as Grandma Ruth; Josh Peck as Rabbi Shapiro; Peter Hermann as Joel Goldman, and Debra Messing as Jessica Goldman, Evan’s mom, to name a few notable celebs.
The projected is directed by Tamra Davis and we can’t wait to find out if Evan gets the killer bar mitzvah he deserves. There is no word yet on the release date.
