Mikayla Rubenstein celebrated her Bat Mitzvah on May 15, 2010 at Atlantis Banquet & Events after a service and kiddush at the Dix Hills Jewish Center. This venue was the perfect setting for her theme, Mikayla’s Fanta-Sea.
Mitzvah Mom Suzy did almost everything herself and found amazing vendors who thought “outside the box” to create a dream party for her daughter. We thank them for sharing their creative ideas with Mitzvah Market. All Vendor information is at the bottom of this spotlight.
Starlight Express provided the photography.
The entire Family looked great. Both Mikayla and Mom Suzy found their dresses at It’s Simply For You.

Mikayla is lucky to have such a large family! Here she is with (L-R Step-Dad Todd, Mom Suzy, brother Shay, Dad David, and Step-Mom Jana.
The entire family during the candle lighting ceremony!
Mitzvah Mom Suzy found a great invitation company online called, Message In A Bottle and took their concept and added her own colors, tissue, packing crinkle, labels and zazzle stamp. She reports that they did a flawless job assembling, mailing and tracking priority mail 225 invitations.

Mikayla got very lucky with the weather and was able to take advantage of having her cocktail hour outside Atlantis Banquet & Events which Mom thinks made the whole night!
Guests at the cocktail hour
The weather was perfect for the outdoors!
Chairs were rented from Party Rental LTD in Bridgehampton and the table clothes and napkins were rented from Table Wraps in Jericho
The centerpieces on the adult tables were traditional florals in glass vases filled with shells and LED Lighting. Suzy can not say enough great things about Jamie Charlton and her crew from Artistry in Flowers. Although Suzy tried to do most of the work herself, she felt that Jamie acted as her party planner and she was able to bounce all her ideas off her. Jamie also did the floral arrangements in the cocktail hour, on the serving trays, place card table and candle lighting
The kids tables were upstairs around the shark tank, so Suzy did not feel she needed to do much. The centerpieces on their tables were metal “fish” sculptures that she ordered from her own website www.cheapchicdecor.com
To keep the theme going, Hi-Tech Party Productions created clever “shell” table numbers out of foam board
Atlantis Marine World has amazing built-in decor but Suzy did want personal touches of pictures of Mikayla around the room so Hi-Tech Party Productions created 3 large blow-ups, like the one above and below
Hi-Tech Party Productions also created this coming attraction poster for younger brother Shay!
Starlight Express with MC Koko provided the musical entertainment for the party.
Mikayla makes her entrance!
Atlantis Marine World provided the spectacular cake for Mikayla’s celebration.
Cake and candles await the traditional candle lighting ceremony
Atlantis Marine World has a built-in gameroom which Suzy used for the kids during the cocktail hour.
Mikayla at her candy bar which was right next to the ice cream sundae bar!
Mikayla’s sign-in book was also done by Hi-Tech Photography Events.
Mitzvah Mom Suzy did many special touches on her own. We love all her DIY ideas! She told us that after seeing the cost for a GOBO, she created her own “Mikayla” gobo. We also have her other ideas below!
She purchased the projector for $169.00 from www.goboman.com
Suzy made her own place cards using the image from the zazzle stamp and shell place card holders that she ordered from favorfavor.com
Susy designed the “Mikayla’s Fanta-Sea” logo herself and then used a local artist and screen printer to execute the sweatshirts, water bottles, chocolate chip cookie bags and labels for the gift bags
Probably nothing that hasn’t been said before! Do as much in advance as possible…I was still doing things on Thursday night! At the party….don’t sweat the small stuff. I had a hard time subscribing to that philosophy and regretted it! Challenge your vendors on price and creativity. Make sure you are getting exactly what you want….don’t settle!
Mikayla’s charity is breast cancer awareness and the next walk she will do is the Avon Walk in the Fall in NYC.
Here is a list of Vendor’s who made Mikayla’s Bat Mitzvah special. If you call any, please let them know that you read about their services on MitzvahMarket.com.
