Backyard Bat Mitzvah With 2 Staggered Parties

Lily Rose’s Bat Mitzvah required quick thinking and practical solutions. Melisa Imberman from The Event Of A Lifetime handled all those challenges and more! She tells Mitzvah Market, “The Bat Mitzvah was originally scheduled for April 2021 with a celebration at The Loading Dock. Due to COVID restrictions at that time we moved the party to Lily’s house for Memorial Day weekend hoping for a warmer outdoor celebration, but that was not exactly what happened!”

Although the family has a small backyard, Melisa was able to take the original big plans and figure out how to make it work. Her solution was to utilized every inch of their property using a tent in the front and one in the back of the house. A balloon tunnel leading guests from the front to the back and a series of connecting tents came in handy due to the rainy and cold Memorial Day weekend! In addition to space being a challenge, the ever changing rules about the number of guests permitted to gather due to COVID was also working against them. Melisa’s solution was to celebrate with two staggered events. Lily’s friends arrived for a cocktail hour, dinner and formalities in the front tent and once they moved to the back tent, it was cleaned up, reset and used for a group of adults who arrived. The adults stayed in the front tent and were served hors d’oeuvres cocktails and then dessert.

Front Tent: Each table had a different color linen with contrasting napkins folded in the shape of a rose. The centerpieces were oversized paper flowers

One of Lily’s many logos was a Warhol style image of flowers

Even the food went with the theme. Rainbow mini pizza with a confetti of rainbow veggies

Chicken quesadillas drizzled with multicolor sour cream & scallions

This balloon tunnel brought guests from the front yard to the backyard. As guests walked through they passed a series of balloon arches

Each arch was a different color of the rainbow and had different sized balloons. The tunnel was a foreshadowing to the balloon clouds in the back tent!

Back tent: Featured a clear tent with balloon clouds suspended from the ceiling

Rainbow colored pipe and drape was used as a backdrop to hide aspects of the house and misplaced patio furniture

In order to have the largest tent possible they included the shrubs around the perimeter. Melisa's solution was to incorporate them into the design by adding paper flowers so they wouldn’t look out of place

A white dance floor was placed over the patio with one of the colorful logos

The tent was washed in colorful uplighting

The lounge was white with rainbow accents and pillows with all of her logos

Due to COVID guidelines and limitations on the number of guests, Lily opted for an all girls party. They loved the glam bars and did nail art, makeup, hair and tattoos!

Lily and her friends had fun dancing and also enjoyed the roaming magician and photo booth

The dancefloor giveaways included logo’d t-shirts, tie dye bucket hats, airpod cases, cell phone wallets and makeup bags

There was a welcome table with logo'd masks with custom lanyards and custom mini flat hand sanitizers that would fit in a pocket
