When Matthew Zeitz and his family learned he would be able to have his Bar Mitzvah service on his original date, they found ways to celebrate and include friends and family from near and far despite the changes to their original plans. Matthew’s Bar Mitzvah service was held inside their synagogue, Shaarei Tikvah in Scarsdale, NY with a limited number of immediate family seated in “pods.” Following the service they held a socially distant backyard brunch with a few family members.

Leading up to the service, they created and sent “Mitzvah Boxes” to close family and friends with a letter, service program, challah, swag cup, candy and kippot. The festivities began with a drive-by a few days before the service giving local family and friends the opportunity to wish Matt “Mazel Tov” and to give him the chance to collect items for his Mitzvah Project.
Favor & Flair not only designed the logo and took care of all the favors, but they also set up a Website that featured details for the day as well as the drive by info. The site also had a spot for those invited to leave messages for Matt which were made into cards for a memory box.

Matt collected snack foods for meal delivery to seniors impacted by COVID-19 through JASA – Jewish Association Serving the Aging.
In addition, Matt participated in the Yad Vashem twinning program which meant a lot to this family as Matt’s great grandparents were impacted by the Holocaust.
