B’not Mitzvah For Family and Friends Who Just Love 2 Party

The Garelick family of Melville, New York celebrated the B’not Mitzvah of their daughters’ Alexandra (Lexi) and Julia. Having a Bat Mitzvah is always significant, but celebrating your big day with your sister by your side makes it much more special! For this chic celebration, the family used both girls initials “J” and “L” in the tagline and as the theme for a perfect night for family and friends who Just Love 2 Party.

Double the meaning, double the fun!

B’not Mitzvah Havdalah Service

The evening started with a beautiful outdoor Havdalah service overlooking the grounds of the Mansion at Oyster Bay
Lexi and Julia recited their prayers beautifully
A drone took cool pictures of the service and family
The kippot imprint included the girls' names and B'not Mitzvah date
This great bathroom basket was created by Randi Lehman of That One Special Touch. It was filled with often-needed toiletries for guests to use

B’not Mitzvah Style

The family looked great and ready to party
The Mansion at Oyster Bay entrance made a perfect backdrop to photograph the family
For the celebration, Mom Mandi wore a sequin vintage gown which had a special meaning to her. "My grandmother wore this dress to my uncle's Bar Mitzvah, then my mother wore it to mine. She saved it in mint condition for me to wear to my girls," she tells us
Julia's gown was from 2 B Seen. Lexi's gown was from Outrageous Boutique and Sister Samantha’s dress was from Designing Dreams

 B’not Mitzvah Invitation

The family worked with Dara Grunberg of Dear Friends on the invitation. The invitation was an authentic Teen Vogue magazine with a customized front and back cover
The front included all the B’not Mitzvah details

B’not Mitzvah Tagline and Branding

The tagline/logo was so clever incorporating both girls' first initials and the number 2. It was created by Gail Steinberg Design
Shiny gold foil mounted to Plexiglass worked great as a sign-in board
The logo looked amazing on the giveaway t-shirts too
Custom gold foil menus were at each place setting

B’not Mitzvah Decor

Gold foil escort cards with the JL logo were displayed on a piano beautifully decorated with candles
On the adult side of the room, there were both round and long tables
The decor was soft and elegant and tailor-made for the venue
Centerpieces were alternating high and low floral arrangements

Music Entertainment

Guests danced the night away thanks to MC Frankie and the DanceJock team. Dancers wore "Just Love 2 Party” t-shirts created by Gail Steinberg Design

B’not Mitzvah Candle Lighting and Special Moment

During cocktail hour, Julia and Lexi's friends presented them with a thoughtful homemade gift - a mini fridge covered with pictures of the girls. We love this!

Mitzvah Favors

Comfy hooded sweatshirts, by Gail Steingberg Design, were given out to the girls' friends at the end of the evening. White for the girls, black for the boys

Following the party, guests were treated to a custom lighted logo snack truck from Tobo Foods

B’not Mitzvah Project

For Lexi and Julia’s Mitzvah Project, they worked with Ruff House Rescue, an organization on Long Island that rescues homeless pets suffering from abuse, neglect, and indifference. People sent donations and also dropped off dog beds, food, treats, etc. The family is still receiving donations and plans to bring them over soon. Also, the girls are helping to build a teen program to do community service for West Hills Torah Center. In fact, they are putting together an evening to sell baked goods with proceeds from this event going to a temple in St. Martin to help rebuild their community after Hurricane Irma. 

Advice from Mom Mandi

“I’m typically a last minute person, but don’t wait to begin the planning process until the final months when it comes to this milestone event. Start gaining inspiration and ideas a year before your Mitzvah date from informative websites like Mitzvah Market, Pinterest, and Facebook and save them in a folder or an album. Make sure your kids feel like they’ve played an integral role in the decision process from venue choice and DJ to decor, floral and lighting design. It truly is more fun when you involve them! Try to make their dreams come true without breaking the bank! They will love the final product and feel much more accomplished. Envision how you want your family and friends to feel in the room, surrounded by love. Take a deep breath and a quiet moment to thank G-d and anyone else for the good fortune and blessing of having a child reach Mitzvah age. Make a promise to yourself and your kids that if anything goes wrong, you’ll all still have the time of your lives. Enjoy every precious minute of it and remember what it’s all about! I could not have planned and organized a more amazing evening without reading the many features from Mitzvah Market and going to the Celebrate! Showcases. I appreciate what Mitzvah Market is doing and can’t wait to help other moms in the same position!”
