Founded in 2008, under the direction of Naomi Eisenberger, The Good People Fund provides financial support and management guidance for small to medium grassroots efforts devoted to tikkun olam (repairing the world). We connect donors with Good People who, operating with low overhead and on a personal scale, have developed creative solutions to poverty, hunger, disability, trauma recovery, social isolation and other significant challenges-but whose work would otherwise go unsupported. Most of our grantees are based in the U.S. and Israel, but our Good People reach out to communities beyond, as well. We target highly effective non-profits headed by dynamic Good People, with annual budgets under $500,000, and no professional development staff. In keeping with our philosophy that the vast majority of donor dollars should support those being served, we maintain a lean operating budget. Salaries for our small staff are underwritten, as are a significant proportion of other operating costs. We serve as a means for donors to reach many groups and individual needs and act as an instigator of good, inspiring people to do tikkun olam and tzedakah (to do the right thing by giving) responsibly and regularly. To expand these good works, the Good People Fund also educates youth, adults, teachers, recipients and donors about the process and power of helping others.
